How can I customize my EcoCart widget and impact counter?

As a business advocating for sustainability with EcoCart, it is always great to use the maximum touch points to assist and educate your customers about making their orders carbon neutral. To do so, EcoCart provides multiple components that can be added to your stores. Details of the components are below.


Different Types of EcoCart Components:

  1. Widget

EcoCart widget refers to the interactive component which can be used by merchants or customers to make the orders carbon neutral. Depending on the mode selected, the customers will be able to:


    1. Merchant Paying: The customers will see that their order is being made carbon neutral by the brand.



    2. Customer Paying: The customers will be able to interact with the options in the widget and make their orders carbon neutral.



  • Merchant Matching: The customers will be able to interact with the options in the widget and their donations will be matched by the Merchant.



  • Customer Matching: The customers will see that their order is being made carbon neutral by the merchant and will be able to interact with the options to match the merchant’s donation.

  1. EcoCart PDP:

PDP refers to an EcoCart component that can be placed on the product description page. This refers to the page the customer sees when they click on any of the products.

The product page is an excellent touch point to educate the customer about the carbon neutral option or to let them know that their order has been made carbon neutral by EcoCart. Below is an example of how the EcoCart PDP will appear on the product page.


  1. Impact Counter:

EcoCart Impact counter refers to a live counter showcasing the impact the merchant has contributed to so far by making the order carbon neutral. It can be an excellent indicator to motivate customers to shop sustainably with EcoCart from the merchant.

Placement Options:

EcoCart allows the above components to be added to many touchpoints within the store. The goal of the document below is to educate our merchants about different touch point and their significance with adding the EcoCart components in there.

  1. Side Cart / Slide Cart:

A side cart or slide cart on Shopify is a type of shopping cart that slides in from the side of the screen when a customer wants to view their cart contents. It allows customers to quickly and easily see the items they have added to their cart without having to navigate away from the current page. This type of shopping cart is becoming increasingly popular among Shopify store owners as it provides a seamless shopping experience for their customers.

Regardless of the plugin used for this, the customers will be able to have the EcoCart plugins integrated into their side cart.

Below is an example of how EcoCart will appear in a side cart.

  1. Pop-Up Cart:


A pop-up cart on Shopify is a type of shopping cart that appears as a pop-up window on the screen when a customer adds an item to their cart. This allows customers to view their cart contents and proceed to checkout without having to navigate away from the current page. Pop-up carts provide a convenient and quick way for customers to manage their shopping experience, making them a popular choice among Shopify store owners who want to enhance their customers' shopping experience.


EcoCart supports adding the EcoCart components to the pop-up cart with no lift required from our merchants. Below is an example of how EcoCart will appear in a pop-up cart.

  1. Cart Page: 


The Cart Page is a dedicated page showcasing the order contents for a customer before checking out. EcoCart supports adding the EcoCart components to the cart page with no lift required from our merchants. Below is an example of how EcoCart will appear on the cart page.

  1. Checkout Page:


A checkout page refers to the purchase flow where the customer has finalized their order and is adding their billing and shipping information. EcoCart supports adding the EcoCart components to the cart page with no lift required from our merchants. Below is an example of how EcoCart will appear on the checkout page.

Note: The store needs to be on Shopify Plus to support the integration of EcoCart components to the checkout page.


  1. Product Page:

A product page in Shopify is a standalone webpage that displays information about a specific product offered for sale on an online store built using Shopify. It typically includes details such as product name, description, image, price, and options (such as size or color). The purpose of a product page is to provide customers with the information they need to make informed purchasing decisions and to provide an easy-to-use interface for adding the product to their shopping cart and completing the checkout process.
